My back breaks in the time it takes
to shovel this load that makes that road.
My heart aches in the time it takes
to dig deep within and settle a win.
My lungs collapse under the weight of this lapse
that sees no end to the all that should transcend.
My evening lights fade under the crackling shade
that hides all the decay and that leads a soul astray.
My throat swallows all that was once hollow
into the hearts that didn’t rip us apart.
My soul bleeds for all that you need,
for everything that came before has washed up onto shore.
My clock chimes in the pleasure of rhyme
where words trip over each other and call eachother lovers.
My eyes see above and beyond all that longed
for a sacred space within this holy place.
